 Hand-made Paper Products

Jean Bowker has created a whole range of eco-friendly hand-made paper by using an unusual raw material - the Soft Rush, Juncus Effusus, which grows widely in damp places.

Rush paper is very special - it is a strong paper with a fibrous texture which retains the essence of the plant.

The paper is hand-made in Jean's own workshop using the traditional mould-and-deckle process: as a result, every sheet is unique - even the smell of the paper is evocative of the moor and mountain from which it comes.

Other materials such as grasses, bracken and leaves are used in the process of creating these very special papers.

The paper is excellent for printing using Jean's aquatint etching techniques shown elsewhere on this website, and the Celtic motifs and lettering shown on these pages (which is only a small selection of those available) are produced using these very techniques.

From this paper comes an expanding range of products: albums, in a range of sizes - specialised boxes - a wide variety of cards - and of course the paper itself.

As the paper is strong but much lighter than mass-produced paper, the products are inexpensive to post and make ideal gifts to send to friends and relatives at home or abroad.

Private and Trade enquiries are welcomed for this unique range of products.
